HGTV Sponsors the EPCOT Int’l Flower and Garden Festival!

9 03 2011

The 18th annual EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is officially underway!  For the first time, HGTV is sponsoring the event which is running from March 2 through May 15.

“We are thrilled to welcome HGTV and so many of the network’s great Talent to Epcot this spring,” said Dan Cockerell, vice president of Epcot.  “HGTV’s design and gardening personalities add an exciting, and entertaining new element to a festival that reinvents itself year after year.”

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, guests visiting EPCOT will have the opportunity to see their favorite designers and landscaping experts from HGTV during informative sessions at the Festival Center.   However, the Festival Center will be open 7 days a week for the first time! (In the past, it has only been open on the weekends.)

“People visit Disney for a memorable experience where they are inspired, enlightened and entertained,” said Jim Samples, president, HGTV. “Our star designers will provide just such an experience for the Disney guest during The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival presented by HGTV.  Disney is the ideal venue and destination for us to connect face-to-face with our passionate viewers.”

The schedule of speakers also includes many Disney and other non-HGTV horticulturalists, landscape architects and other garden experts.

So head over to EPCOT, and check out over 100 topiaries representing characters from your favorite Disney classics! New this year are characters from Toy Story 3 and Cars 2.  Also enjoy The Flower Power concert series, starring musicians from the 1960s and ’70s, includes performances by Melissa Manchester, Davy Jones of the Monkees, Juice Newton and Jose Feliciano.  Also new this year?  Bambi’s Butterfly House moves to a new location and more than doubles in size; and HGTV presents a Sustainable Beauty Garden.
